Maliki Endorses Obama's Withdrawal Plan

According to the German magazine Spiegel, Prime Minister Maliki has endorsed Obama's plan for US withdrawal form Iraq. (link to TPM)

"US presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months," said al Maliki "That, we think, would be the right timeframe for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes."

Subsequent to this article, there was an effort by the Bush administration to claim that Maliki was mistranslated. However, the audiotapes of his interview support Spiegel's claim.
